The “Hispanic Center” is an educational & cultural NGO which was founded at the beginning of 2003 and received a state registration on the 15th of December of the same year. The fact that gradually the interest of the Armenian society towards the Spanish-speaking world was increasing, served as a base for the foundation of the “Hispanic Center”. Besides it at that moment there wasn’t a similar organization or other source to get the necessary information in Armenia. So we decide to create such a system, which will enable the whole Spanish-loving society to get acquainted with that world and to feel a part of it. In accordance with that, on the initiative of young Armenian economists Ashot Parsyan and Vardan Asryan and in collaboration with the representatives from Spain and Latin America Nestor Martines (Spain), Juan Carlos Flores (Ecuador) and Carlos Antaramyan (Mexico) the foundation for the realization of that idea was laid.

The project consists of a large number of activities for those who are interested in getting to know the Spanish language and the Spanish-speaking world (culture, art, music, etc.) affording them an opportunity to associate with the representatives of those countries, to take part in discussions and seminars, and in other educational and cultural events.

Till now

• In April 2004 for the first time in Armenia was organized a “Festival of Spanish and Latin American films” in NPAK. The festival lasted for about a week and covered 9 films. Then from February 3 of 2006 till May 29 of the same year a Spanish film festival was organized at the theatre “Moscow” which included a number of Spanish films without translation. And in May of 2009 only a Latin American film festival took place in Naregatsi Art Institute.
• In 2004, on the initiative of the “Hispanic Center” the band “Son Latino” was created. Two musicians from Colombia and Puerto Rico were included in the band. In general they were playing Caribbean “Son”. Their first concert took place at “Tigran Mets” hall of “Armenia Marriott” hotel.
• In 2004 the “Hispanic Center” broadcasted the program “Tiempo Hispano” announced by the founders of the “Hispanic Center” Ashot Parsyan and Juan Carlos Flores in Armenian and Spanish. This program found acceptance within people, especially the young ones. Then the program was renamed “Corazon de Melon”. And now it is called “Radiofiesta”.
• From February of 2005 we organize Spanish courses which consist of different levels - from the elementary to the highest level.
• In 2006 the first CD was released which includes the 20 songs more preferred by the audience during the transmissions on radio.
• In June of 2007 we started classes of Latin American folk dances with the participation of a dancer from Cuba.
• From the first of November of 2007 till 14th of December a festival of Latin American music and cuisine took place in “The Club” with the participation of a musician from Venezuela Victor Rojas. In the organization and realization of the festival the Latin-American representatives of the diplomatic corps in Armenia took an active participation.
• Taking into consideration the great interest of people towards another Romanic language - Portuguese, in February 2008 with the proposal of the Embassy of Brazil in Armenia we started classes of Brazilian Portuguese by the help of specialist from Brazil Mateus Castello Branco.
